Alicia Lloyd is a senior at West Chester University of Pennsylvania and is working towards her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Grades Preparation (PK-4) and Special Education. Can you tell us about your current book. Give a short summary. You can follow this up with any points you hope readers will take away with them. Alicia: This book is a friendly way for children to ease their bedtime fears. All children at one point in their lives hear unfamiliar and scary noises while trying to drift off into sleep. As soon as they get scared, they start thinking of all these scary things that can happen. My girls really enjoyed this book. My youngest loved saying all of Ollie’s special words (“WHEERE!” or “WHEEN!” or “WHYY!” and sometimes “WHAAT!” ) and it was a great exercise for my oldest who is in speech to practice some of the words she has difficultly with in a fun new way. The author LeeAnna Kail wrote the book as more of a fun story to show how to get along with others who are different, but my family found other valuable things as you can see written with in the pages. About the Book: In What Do You See When You Look at Me? the author engages her young readers with bright and colorful photos and invites them to see more than just an animal but to look at the beauty of each creature in detail. Overall Thoughts: A wonderful book for kids who love animals. Sauer’s eye for capturing wildlife is amazing and I just loved each photo. The details are vivid and you can see so much more beyond this is a horse, bird, zebra, etc. Teachers can use this book to explore the animal kingdom with preschool aged kids and older classrooms can have open discussions about what they see in each picture.
