Book Review: Ten Busy Brownies by Talia Haven

e About the book: Count the brownies up to 10 as they help out with chores around a old cottage house. Available only as an eBook!   Publisher: Keith Publications, LLC (November 6, 2013)   Sold by:  Amazon Digital Services, Inc.   ASIN: B00HOQRG0 ISBN:   978-1-62882-019-5 Overall Thoughts: This is the debut children's book for author Talia Haven. I was surprised to learn the book was only available as an eBook. I am very fond of eBooks and tend to listen to audio books myself more often than an eBook. But when it comes to children's books, I still feel most kids are print based over tech based when it comes to reading. I know this is changing greatly for YA and Middle Grade genres, but picture and chapter books still seem to be the favorite for young readers. With all that said, I sat down with my girls, pulling out my tablet. We all scooted into close to read and look at the vivid illustrations by Sytiva Seehan. My girls found the illus...

Book Review: Quincy and Buck

Mom's Choice Gold Award-winning: Quincy the Horse Series. In Quincy’s third adventure, "Quincy and Buck", Quincy tries to overcome his fears about “surprises waiting for horses out on the trail” by going on his first trail ride. Quincy’s main concern is the wild animals he might meet but the real challenge turns out to be another horse. Buck, the horse he hopes will be his trail buddy and guide him, turns out to be a bully who is dangerous! Quincy learns some important things about dealing with a bully. Thoughts: This is a wonderful series of book and you won't be disappointed with the third installment of this series. Besides helping younger children understand what a bully is and some of the reason's they may be a bully, young readers also learn how to find confidence within themselves. Quincy also shows readers how to overcome fears and become a leader to those around them.  Another wonderful life lesson Quincy teaches readers is that not everyo...

I really enjoyed reading this book with my two girls. My ...
