Book Review Thursday: Lai-Lai Meets Chub-Chub by Dr. Aaron Chokan

Lai-Lai Meets Chub-Chub is a cute picture book my girls really enjoyed reading with me. They loved the illustrations and how they had a chance to help shout out names to Lai-Lai for her to think about when deciding what to name her new puppy. My youngest really loved talking about each nature scene and different sense used to illustrate the idea or name Lai-Lai thought about before looking for a new name, while trying to name her new puppy. What I really liked about the book was how it teaches young children they are able to do things they sometimes wait or even expect an adult to do for them. It teaches self-confidence and empowerment at a very simple level. About the Book: The book Lai-Lai Meets Chub-Chub is a book about a young preschool girl (mirrored after my daughter Calais) who struggles to find the "perfect" name for her new puppy. She spends her day outside learning how nature can truly give her ideas for a name. She also asks for listener participati

Interview Firday with Sarah E. Sauer

Sarah E. Sauer is a childhood brain cancer survivor. She is also an animal lover. Sarah’s love of animals was something she drew on for strength throughout her illness. In her first children’s book, Sarah shares her love and respect for wildlife animals through her photos she took for her high school digital photography class. Sarah is currently studying early childhood education and hopes to share her love and knowledge of animals to promote and develop an appreciation of wildlife in young children. She currently lives in Corydon, IN with her family and her horses, llamas, donkey, cats and dogs. VS: How long have you been writing? Sarah: Ever since I was little, I would write stories. My sisters and I loved the writing Round Robin and loved the stories we would come up with. VS: What inspired you to write your book? Sar

Personal Note: Ten Years of Support and Love

Today marks my ten year wedding anniversary. It was a day that changed my life in more ways than I could have even imagined. When Justin came into my life one year before, I knew I had found the man of my dreams. The first time he wrapped his arms around me in a warm hug I knew I found a safe place and my home. He is my everything and my eternal companion. Our life together was an adventure from the start. I already had a son so we didn't get those free spirited early years of marriage like so many newly weds. Instead we went from dating to instant family. However, even today we wouldn't have changed a thing. It was because of this my life took another turn and I started down the road to publication. I left my life in the fashion/buying world and decided to become a stay-at-home-mom. To raise a family and find something I could do while raising my children. I never would have guessed back then it would be writing and later a blog talk radio host, president of my local wri

Guest Post Wed: A Lighthearted YA Romantic Piece by Scott R. Caseley

Originally, I was going to write something else, but the ideas I had were too dark and too bleak. Seeing as I've done a lot of that lately, I wanted to have a bit of a departure. Though I love my characters in Isosceles dearly, I decided to leave them behind for this piece. I have other characters running about in my mind, so I wanted to give them a little bit of time in the spotlight. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I had fun writing it. – Scott R. Caseley “Silent Cal”             Though, I can’t tell you what I had for breakfast yesterday, I will never forget a certain guy in my freshman class from over twenty years ago. His quiet demeanor made him mysterious, which of course made him even cuter to my fourteen-year old mind.   I first noticed him when our Honors English class got holed up in the school library because they had to repaint our classroom.   Fumes and fate placed us at the same table with three others whose last name began with a “T”.   W
