VS Grenier Update

Some people wonder if years of hard work really pay off. Well it all depends on what you feel a good pay off is. I know for me a good pay off is seeing my hard work noticed by others, instead of the monetary compensation. Why? Because I like knowing what I'm doing is not only helping me grow but also helping others as well. As an author and freelance editor is it nice to be paid for my work. I need money to pay my bills, take my kids on fun outings, etc. However, the feeling I get when I get published or help another writer achieve their goals/dreams is nothing money can even come close to. Do I hope to make it BIG one day? It would be nice, but it isn't my goal. I don't dream of swimming in a pool full of money and living in some HUGE house I would have to hire a team of people to clean. What I do dream about is making a difference in people's lives and my leaving a legacy behind for my children, their children and the many generations after them. I'm happy t

November 2012: The Next BIG Thing Blog Hop

“From Twilight to 50 Shades of Grey, the past few years have been full of high profile reads. Love um or hate um, you have to admit you have at least heard of them.  As Independent Authors we all dare to dream we will be next, and well let’s face it, you never know...right? With that thought I jumped on this Hop which is basically an Independent Authors game of tag. One Author posts, and then tags five other Authors, who each link back to them, and you my fair reader have hopefully just increased your to read list. Finding New and Exciting Authors you may never have found otherwise.  Some of us are still writing, others are just being released, while others have many books published. Either way, for you Book Lovers, a treasure trove awaits and I’d like to thank fellow Author Lin Floyd for tagging me to participate.” Click the links to find out about Lin Floyd’s books. Halloween Recap

I love Halloween. It really is my favorite holiday in the year. I'm not sure if it has something to do with it being my mom's birthday or not. I know it is fun telling people I'm the daughter of a witch. I mean after all all witches are born on Halloween...aren't they. Of course, my mom isn't a mean witch. She is one of the nicest people I know. Sometimes I think her parents got the wrong holiday to have her on. What do I mean? Well when someone asks about my mom, I say, "She is a lot like Mrs. Clause. She loves to give little kids goodies, is round and jolly, and loud. I mean really loud." Of course, when you think about it...a lot of witches are round and loud, and the good ones do like to give out treats to little kids. So I guess maybe her parents did get the right holiday after all. One thing my mom really taught me about Halloween is how to let your inner child come out. She always dressed up each year with me and really got into the whole sp

Recap of the HWG Fall Writer's Conference

Welcome to the HWG Fall 2012 Writer's Conference in St. George, Utah. (Me giving the welcome speech to all attendees.) Wow, is all I can say about my weekend long writing conference on October 12-13, 2012. I was not only busy as the HWG President in welcoming our attendees to our first ever writing conference, but also helped David Smith (HWG Conference Chair & Author of the Hidden Mickey series) with overseeing the details of the conference as well as presenting a workshop of my own about how to bring and use your 5 sense in your writing. I would love to say when you host a writing conference that things don't get crazy until the day of the conference, but as you all might have guessed already...it starts weeks before, if not months. However, one of the highlights of the craziness going on around me was picking up our Friday night Keynote Speaker Johnny Tan. He not only flew out from Texas, but is also a dear friend I have known for a few years now. We have never m
