2010 LOS ANGELES BOOK FESTIVAL CALL FOR ENTRIES

LOS ANGELES _ The 2010 Los Angeles Book Festival has issued a call for entries to its annual program honoring the best of the world publishing community.

The Los Angeles Book Festival will consider self-published or independent publisher non-fiction, fiction, biography/autobiography, children's books, young adult, how-to, cookbooks, science fiction, business, spiritual, photography/art, poetry, foreign language, romance and mysteries published on or after Jan. 1, 2007.

Our grand prize for the 2010 Los Angeles Book Festival Book of the Year is $1500 cash and a flight to the awards ceremony in February.

Submitted works will be judged by a publishing panel using the following criteria:
  1. General excellence and the author's passion for telling a good story.
  2. The potential of the work to reach a larger audience.
ENTRIES: Please classify your book and enter it in the following categories. Multiple entries must be accompanied by a separate fee for each book.
  1. General Non-Fiction
  2. General Fiction
  3. Biography/Autobiography
  4. Children's Books
  5. Young Adult
  6. How-to
  7. Cookbooks
  8. Science Fiction
  1. Business
  2. Spiritual
  3. Photography/Art
  4. Poetry
  5. Romance
  6. Mystery
  7. Foreign Language
In addition to honoring the top selections in the above categories, The Los Angeles Book Festival will award the following chosen from submissions:
  1. Los Angeles Book Festival Author of the Year-Honors the outstanding book of the competition.
  2. Los Angeles Book Festival Book Design of the Year --- Honors outstanding and innovative design.
  3. Los Angeles Book Festival Independent Publisher of the Year-Honors the top publisher based on materials displaying excellence in marketing and promotional materials, as determined by our judges.

The Los Angeles Book Festival is part of the JM Northern Media family of festivals, which includes the DIY Convention: Do It Yourself in Film, Music & Books, the New York Book Festival and the Hollywood Book Festival. Why Do You Need a Book Trailer

Many writers and illustrators ask me, "Is it really important to have a book trailer for my upcoming book?" My answer is "YES!" Book and Event trailers are a lot like movie trailers. They catch viewer interest if done right. I don’t know if you have noticed, but many BIG publishing houses have discovered the importance of book trailers. They believe in them so much that you can catch them as television commercials. Something you didn’t see 20, 10 and even 5 years ago! Book and event trailers are fast becoming the future in marketing, promotions and school events.
