Discovering Self through the Art of Storytelling

The transformative power of storytelling and spirituality is a captivating subject. In a recent episode of the 'Language of the Soul' podcast, we had the pleasure of hosting Connet Tegan, a renowned children's author and energy therapist. The focus of the discussion was the intersection of storytelling, spirituality, and their influence on personal growth and development.

Storytelling has been an integral part of human culture for millennia. It shapes our identities, beliefs, and even our spiritual paths. Connet Tegan's work beautifully intertwines the power of words and music, creating a universe where communication skills and character building are paramount. This not only makes her a phenomenal author but also a catalyst for positive change.

In today's rapidly evolving educational landscape, the role of storytelling often gets sidelined. However, the significance of narratives in understanding complex issues cannot be overstated. From personal experiences to societal issues, stories offer a unique lens to comprehend and navigate our world. Moreover, the cathartic effects of writing and the therapeutic qualities of journaling serve as potent tools for healing and self-discovery.

Technology has revolutionized classrooms, but its impact on learning remains a subject of intense debate. While it offers unprecedented access to information, it also poses challenges to traditional modes of teaching, particularly storytelling. As we navigate this complex terrain, it's essential to remember the intrinsic value of storytelling in inspiring, entertaining, and educating.

As the conversation progressed, we delved into the societal and spiritual implications of storytelling. Personal narratives often lead to a reevaluation of our values and beliefs, influencing society's ethical spectrum. In this context, storytelling acts as a mirror, reflecting our thoughts and experiences. This understanding can spur personal growth and contribute to societal progress.

Finally, we discussed the shared principles of various spiritual paths and teachings. Concepts such as thought, perception, choice, accountability, health, healing, rhythm, harmony, abundance, gratitude, and celebration all work together to create a balanced and empowered life. The conversation also emphasized the importance of celebrating our divinity and maintaining balance in all aspects of our lives.

Interview Friday with Lakisha Spletzer

Lakisha Spletzer is a single parent of two highly creative children. She has been writing stories since the tender age of eight. It was always for school or her own amusement; never for others. Lakisha has written fan fics (mostly during high school) and the stories tended to favor such shows as Star Trek, SeaQuest, and Highlander, just to name a few. She did a lot of poetry writing too during high school year; mainly to release all her angst, woes and emotions buried deep inside. After high school, Lakisha went to college and received two degrees: an AAS from Mountain Empire Community College (Big Stone Gap, Virginia) and a BA in Communications from the University of Virginia-Wise. It was not until after the birth of her first child she considered writing a novel. Once Lakisha moved from Virginia to Florida in 2004, her goal solidified and she began working on a novel called "Moonbeams and Moonlight." Lakisha met a local writer's workshop group at the pu...
