Debut Author Maha Huneidi on Blog Talk Radio’s World of Ink Network show: Stories for Children –September 12, 2011

Blog Talk Radio’s World of Ink Network Show: Stories for Children with hosts VS Grenier, Kris Quinn Christopherson and Irene Roth will be chatting with debut children’s author Maha Huneidi.
As a mother, grandmother, meditation and yoga instructor, debut children’s author Maha Huneidi is finally doing what she is most passionate about, at sixty, being charged by a mere idea, one that she can turn into a story or article.
“I love to write. It empowers and delights me,” states Huneidi. “I also love the newness, exuberance and curiosity of little kids, and I share the two latter traits with them, as well as many other traits like the ability to make mistakes fearlessly and learn from them, for example.”
Huneidi’s debut picture book, When Monsters Get Lonely shares a fun story about a little girl who is afraid of the dark. As the lights go out, the all too real feeling of what might be hiding in the dark awaits young readers as they learn ways to face their own fears with the main character Hannah.

The hosts of Stories for Children will chat with Maha Huneidi about the inspiration behind, When Monsters Get Lonely, her upcoming World of Ink Virtual Tour and how parents/grandparents can help young children overcome their fears.

The show will air live, September 12, 2011 at 2pm EST. Tune in at the BTR World of Ink Network site at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/worldofinknetwork. You can listen/call in at (714) 242-5259. (Note: if you can’t make the show, you can listen on demand at the same link.)

Interview Friday with Mikey Brooks, author & Illustrator

VS: I want to thank you for being my guest here on The Writing Mama today. How long have you been writing? Mikey: I started writing when I was about 14 year old. I lived in a rural town in Missouri and our nearest neighbor was about a mile away. So friends were hard to come by. I fell in love with stories like Narnia and the Wizard of Oz and wished I could escape to these worlds. I had a hid out in the woods that surrounded our farm and I wrote about a world that existed in the reflection of a pond. I have a lot of fond memories about those woods. VS: What inspired you to write your books? Mikey: My children are the inspiration behind a lot of my stories now. Bean’s Dragons is based on my daughter and her imaginary dragons she has flying, parading, and trashing throughout the house. She was kind enough to let me glimpse into her world for just a moment to capture the magic within. My girls also love ABC books and shows. Because I love fantastical creatures, I wa...
